Hey guys! My name is Andrea Helms. I am a certified personal trainer through International Sports Science Association (ISSA). I am also certified in Group Fitness, Nutrition and Lifestyle and Wellness Coaching through Human Kinetics. I came to the fitness industry via music.
Singing requires much stamina and endurance. After a performance one evening, my manager observed that I was lacking in these two areas. I decided to join a gym, but quickly realized that I could not do this on my own. I needed help. So, I hired a personal trainer to help get me into shape. We worked extremely hard because I was determined to be better. I began to see my body change and I noticed that I was not tiring out as quickly on stage. These were the outcomes I desired. Somewhere along the way, though, it occurred to me that I was not just learning how to overcome in the gym, but I was learning life lessons for outside of the gym.
If you train the mind the body will follow. I learned that I could either let life drag me down every time and issue arose, or I could get up and fight for one more rep. I learned that I have more in me to forge ahead. At that moment I knew that fitness had changed my life forever.
This new, found wisdom became my motto. It created a desire in me to help others in the same way my trainer helped me. That is why I do what I do. I love to see people grow and realize their true potential, in and out of the gym. You always have one more rep inside of you!
I have 25 years of experience in the fitness industry and I still learn something new every day. Certifications from National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) include; Certified Personal Trainer, Corrective Exercise Specialist, Behavior Change Specialist, and Fitness Nutrition Specialist. Group Exercise has always been a passion of mine. I am currently teaching Cycling and recently acquired my 200hr Yoga Teacher Training Certification. I am the middle child from a huge family, ten brothers and sisters! So hanging out with others comes naturally to me. I am happily married, together we have eight children between us. I find great joy in helping others reach their fitness goals and experiencing the personal growth that occurs during that journey. Fitness and living a healthy lifestyle has impacted my life in such a positive way. My goal is to pass that enthusiasm for life, self-accountability, self-awareness, and self-acceptance to as many people as possible.
Hello Coach Brandon here! I started 7 years ago at the University of North Texas, majored in Kinesiology for Physical Therapy and quickly switch to Coaching and Personal Training after running into an off-campus boot camp! At the time, I was a member of this outdoor Boot Camp. It’s incredible what physical activity can do for the body. Better than that, it’s amazing what relationships can do for the mindset. I quickly jumped into coaching these boot camps and went on to do it for a little over 4 years. This Boot Camp was powered and represented by Herbalife Nutrition, where I was trained in dietary supplements and energy products. I am now a Supervisor for this company! This is where I found my true passion, serving people through encouragement, recognition and consistent results! Our mind is a powerful tool, and once we change the mindset, we change lives! I went on to become a Personal Trainer for a local gym. I am continuously learning; that’s what is great about the field we work in, we can lead by example and do it first, then have others do what we do! I am certified as an AFAA Group Fitness Instructor. Along the way, what truly has helped me the most is my family and mentors. My siblings helped direct me into this field of work, my parents so much about leading by example. My mentors have helped me grown wisdom and understand of life! I am so grateful for this opportunity and so excited to see what’s the come!!
